I picked up the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Strut recently because I wanted a dark coloured cream shadow. I wanted to use it as a base for my eyeshadow since I do smokey looks a lot – in the day and for the evening. Using a dark base is the quickest way to start. But I digress.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Strut seemed to fit the bill. Described as a charcoal black, the colour is in fact a dark grey and applies with a dark blue-grey tint. I thought it was alright. not quite what I was looking for.

When applied, its not too dark. You can see a swatch of Strut below. It can get darker if you layer it. Or if you just pat it on instead of swiping it on your skin.

But then, I worked out that it works great with Skinny Jeans! Not jeans, Benefit Cosmetics’ Skinny Jeans 😛

It also works very well as a base shade. Helps lighter colours transform and deepen which can be very pretty. So I’m very happy I decided to buy this sight unseen 🙂

On my lids, it lasts the whole day. It works great on its own or as a base for powder eyeshadows. The texture is very creamy and applies like a dream. I use my fingers but you can use a brush – just make sure its a synthetic one 🙂

I believe it retails at RM85 at Benefit Cosmetics counters. Its US$19 online but it looks like Strut is no longer available!. I got mine for US$13 (about RM45) off StrawberryNET.com 😀 They are still on offer now (May 2010) but I don’t know how long it will be there for. I’m itching to get more colors 🙂

Pros: Creamy, Stays on my lids all day, Good on its own or under powder eyeshadow

Cons: Expensive locally but cheaper online, Might not suit those with very oily lids
